When I was learning how to be a therapist I had an experience I’ll never forget. I specifically remember being amazed as I watched leading therapists in our field use theory and technique to help couples find relief from their struggles. I thought to myself, “This stuff really works”.
What I learned is that couples therapy is not merely about talk. It is about changing the experience you are having in relationship.
It is possible couples therapy can help to
change the experience
you are having in relationship!
If you are having the same argument over and over.
If you feel like you are not being heard.
If you feel like you will never be enough.
If you feel like you and your partner are not on the same team.
If you feel like your partner doesn’t like or love you.
If you want to throw up your hands and say, I give up.
I encourage you not to give up just yet…..there is hope!
You can seek a place where there is space for both of your voices.
You can seek relief from what you fear your partner might feel.
You can approach vulnerability with one another again.
You can seek liberation in being seen…and being loved just as you are.
You can rediscover your love story….and write the next chapter.
